Maarouk is a sweet, fragrant, brioche-like bread that is only made during Ramadan in some of the Muslim majority countries. This sweet bread is very soft in texture, just like a baby cheek. Beautiful shiny at the top. It is coated with sugar syrup right after baking. Maarouk is served during breakfast or as a snack during the night. It comes in different kinds and shapes. The traditional kind is the plain one that is served with a cup of tea or stuffed with fresh cream or my favorite option: date paste that make it irresistible.
